About CDAC
The purpose of C-DAC’s establishment in 1988 was to construct supercomputers in response to the United States’ ban on their import. Beginning with PARAM with 1 GF in 1988, C-DAC has been producing several generations of supercomputers since then.
With the founding of the GIST group (Graphics and Intelligence based Script Technology), C-DAC began developing Indian Language Computing solutions almost simultaneously. Around the same time, the National Centre for Software Technology (NCST), which was established in 1985, also began working on Indian Language Computing.
